Territory Rides: How every tour becomes a crew game

Riding a motorcycle means freedom. Discovering new roads. Just setting off. And above all: being on the road together.
With Territory Rides, we are now bringing exactly these things together in Yomoko and expanding real motorcycle tours with a joint game for motorcycle crews.
Yomoko is a community app for motorcycle riders. While with Yomoko 1.0 we mainly supported solo riders in getting to know suitable ride buddies and starting joint excursions, with Yomoko 2.0 we are going one step further:
We want to turn solo riders into crew riders and help existing motorcycle crews find new members and grow.
Territory Rides is an important part of this.
What is Territory Rides?
Territory Rides is a location-based game feature in the Yomoko motorcycle app. During actively started rides, riders collect points in virtual areas for their crew. Motorcycle crews can conquer these territories and defend them against other crews.
The focus is on riding together, discovering and crew competition.
Territory Rides has been live for about three months now. Since then, new crews have been created daily, new riders are joining, and more and more areas on the map are changing owners. Time to properly introduce the whole thing to you.
How Territory Rides Works
The real world becomes the playing field in Territory Rides. The map is divided into many individual hexagonal areas – the so-called territories. If you start a ride in Yomoko and cross these areas, you collect points there for your crew.
Other motorcycle crews can also travel in the same territories and collect points. This creates a playful competition over which crew controls which areas.
It's not just a single tour that counts. Territory Rides is played over weeks, months and the entire season.
RIDE – Ride a motorcycle and collect points
Grab your bike, start your ride in Yomoko and get out on the road. During an actively started ride, you collect points for your crew in the territories you ride through. All crew members contribute together to the result.
One person rides a lap on Tuesday after work, two others are on the road on Thursday and on the weekend the crew might do a larger rideout that brings maximum points. All points collected flow into your crew's joint weekly result.
CONQUER – Conquer new territories
In Territory Rides, every area you ride through counts. If a territory is still unclaimed, it is marked grey on the map after you ride through. If the area already belongs to another crew, you can see directly how many points your crew has currently collected there.
With Crew Base Premium, you can also view the scores of the other crews. This allows you to quickly see where things are getting tight, which areas are realistically up for grabs and where another round might be worthwhile.
This is precisely what changes the way tours are planned. You no longer just ride the familiar home round, but perhaps take a few additional streets with you to collect points in a specific territory or to win back a contested area for your own crew. In this way, the map gradually becomes a reflection of where your crew is actually on the road.
Monday is Decision Day
Every Territory Rides week culminates in the joint evaluation on Monday.
All points collected by your crew in the individual territories during the week are merged and evaluated. If your crew was more successful in an area than the competition, the territory is yours until another crew snatches it back from you. This also means: A single ride does not decide an area. The crew's joint rides over the entire week make the difference.
DEFEND – Defend your territories
A won territory does not automatically belong to you forever. The following week, as mentioned, other crews can collect points in this area again and try to take it from you. So, if you want to keep your territories, you have to keep riding. This is how the Territory Rides map changes week by week.
Week, Month, Season: This is how it is scored
The competition does not end with the weekly evaluation. The results also flow into larger rankings:
Week: Your rides and collected points decide how the territories are distributed among the crews.
Month: A monthly winner is determined from the results of the entire month.
Season: The results are merged over the entire season of a year. In the end, this decides which crew won the season overall.
In short:
A tour brings points.
A week brings territories.
A month brings the monthly victory.
A season decides which crew stands at the top.
And then the game starts all over again.
From Solo Riders to Crew Riders: Yomoko 2.0
When we started Yomoko, the focus was initially on one question: How do we bring motorcycle riders together as easily as possible who do not yet have anyone for their next tour?
With Yomoko 1.0, we supported solo riders in getting to know other motorcycle riders and suitable ride buddies – via profiles, matches, chats, rideouts and joint tours. Yomoko is not a dating app. It's about connecting people through their shared passion for motorcycle riding.
With Yomoko 2.0, we are now developing this idea further. Our goal is no longer just to introduce two riders to each other.
We want to turn solo riders into crew riders.
A first joint ride can turn into a second. Two riders can eventually turn into five. And individual contacts can turn into a real motorcycle crew. At the same time, we want to help existing biker crews find suitable new riders, become more visible and further expand their community. Territory Rides gives these crews an additional common goal.
Because for us, a crew is not created by a few people being in the same group chat. A crew is created through shared experiences.
Why we built Territory Rides
Our mission at Yomoko is: More real-time instead of screen time.
We don't want to build a motorcycle app that just makes you look at a screen longer. We want to use digital features to make more happen outside. Territory Rides is designed to create an additional reason to put on your helmet, get your bike out of the garage and start riding.
Maybe you discover a road that you have always driven past before. Maybe you try out a new after-work lap. Or someone writes in the crew chat in the morning:
“They took our area from us yesterday. Who is riding today?”
And suddenly you have a reason to go out together. Because in the end, Territory Rides is not really about digital hexagons. It's about shared experiences with friends, connected by the same passion for motorcycle riding.
Many individual rides become a common goal
Territory Rides is deliberately designed as a crew game. Not every crew member has to be on the road together for every tour. One rides a lap after work. Two other crew members are out together on the weekend. Someone else does a longer tour and discovers a completely new region.
Everyone contributes to the common goal, and that is exactly the dynamic we wanted to create:

We can now see that this works in our community as well. As of August 2026, Yomoko has grown to 240 active crews within 3 months – and new riders and new crews are joining daily. The usage also shows how lively the community has become: On average, more than 700 users are already active daily on Yomoko, and this year alone our total number of users has more than doubled.

The dynamics are now also clearly visible in Territory Rides: Since the launch, around 35,000 areas have already been taken. For comparison: Germany comprises a total of about 70,000 territories. With every new rider, every new crew and every additional conquered territory, Territory Rides becomes a bit more exciting.
Discover new roads instead of always riding the same lap
Almost every motorcycle rider eventually knows their classic routes: the after-work lap, the home stretch on Sunday or the meeting point where everyone has been a hundred times anyway. Territory Rides gives you an additional incentive to break this routine.
Perhaps just a few kilometers away lies a territory where your crew has never been before. Perhaps a small side road leads through several interesting areas. Or another crew has set up camp right in your region.
Suddenly:
“Which motorcycle tour are we riding today?”
turns into another question:
“Which territories are we getting today?”
Exactly this combination of motorcycle riding, discovering, community and playful competition is behind Territory Rides.
Does Yomoko track my location permanently?
No. Continuous location processing for Territory Rides or ride recording only occurs if you actively start a corresponding ride or function.
During an actively started ride, recording can also continue when the app is in the background or the screen is locked. This is necessary so that your tour can be fully recorded.
Outside of actively started ride recordings or corresponding location-based functions, no permanent location recording takes place.
Also important: Other users do not see your exact live location.
Depending on the function, crew results, points, rankings or controlled areas may be visible, for example. However, a permanent exact live location of individual users is not shared.
Is Territory Rides a motorcycle race?
No. Territory Rides does not reward how fast you ride. It's not about setting speed records, racing or taking risks for a digital area. That's why riding fast through areas does not bring more points.
Territory Rides is meant to motivate motorcycle riding, discovering and sharing experiences. Adhere to traffic rules and local regulations at all times, and ride only where you are legally allowed to ride.

What is Territory Rides?
Territory Rides is a feature of the Yomoko motorcycle community app where crews can collect points in virtual areas through real motorcycle tours and conquer or defend territories.
How are the territories evaluated?
Crew members collect points in the territories they ride through during their rides over the week. These points are merged every Monday and the weekly ranking is evaluated.
What happens to an unclaimed territory?
If you ride through a territory that does not currently belong to any crew, this area will then be shaded grey on the map.
What do I see in a territory that already belongs to a crew?
In an already controlled territory, you see your current score for this area. As a Crew Base Premium user, you can also see the scores of the other crews.
Are there monthly and seasonal rankings?
Yes. In addition to the weekly territory evaluation, there is a monthly winner. Additionally, the results are merged over the entire season of a year to determine the season winner.
Do I need a crew for Territory Rides?
Yes. To participate in Territory Rides, you must be part of a crew. However, this crew does not necessarily have to have several members – you can also start your own crew and ride alone.
As soon as you are part of a crew, you can collect points and conquer territories. If you ride together with several riders, you also benefit from higher point values.
Can I participate as a solo rider?
Yes. You can also easily play Territory Rides alone, but as mentioned before, collecting points is then a bit more difficult.
Does Yomoko track my location permanently?
No. Continuous recording only begins when ride or Territory Rides functions are actively started.
Can other riders see my exact live location?
Not automatically. Territory Rides can display crew, area, points and ranking information, but does not share the permanent exact live location of individual users.
Is Territory Rides a motorcycle race?
No. Speed does not decide who wins Territory Rides and does not bring more points. The feature is intended to promote riding together, discovering and playful crew competition.
Is Yomoko a dating app?
No. Yomoko is a community app for motorcycle riders. It helps riders find other motorcycle riders, ride buddies and crews, as well as organize joint rideouts and activities.
