Why we built Yomoko – and why we now need your support

Motorcycling is for many people more than just a hobby. It is a feeling of freedom, adventure, and community. Anyone who has ever ridden with friends on winding mountain roads knows that the best memories on two wheels are rarely created alone. This very experience was the starting point for the idea behind Yomoko.

We noticed something: Even though motorcycling is a very communal hobby, it is often surprisingly difficult to find suitable riding companions. Those who are new to a city, have just obtained their driver’s license, or are planning a longer trip are not looking for many bikers – but rather the one ride buddy or a small group with whom they can experience adventures right at their doorstep or around the world.

We wanted to fill exactly this gap with Yomoko.

The Idea Behind Yomoko

The idea originated a few years before the actual development of the app. During a motorcycle tour to Dubrovnik, we realized how much more fun traveling and touring can be when shared with others. At the same time, we noticed that there is no platform that specifically brings motorcyclists together – based on riding style, interests, or just the spontaneous desire for a ride.

From this experience came our vision: a platform that connects motorcyclists in a straightforward way.

Today, behind Yomoko is a small team of three friends with different skills. Norman takes care of concept and community, Patrick is responsible for design and user experience, and Falk develops the technical platform. We all work full-time in digital product development and invest our free time into building Yomoko.

Our goal has been clear from the beginning: We wanted to create a platform specifically designed for motorcyclists – and not just another social media group.

What Yomoko Can Do Today

The current version of the app consciously focuses on the essentials: We want to make it as easy as possible for you to find other riders in your area and organize joint rides.

To do this, Yomoko offers several features:

• Discover riders in the vicinity

• Start spontaneous rides via the Let’s Ride mode

• Plan tours and events

• View profiles of other riders and find matches

The community is always at the center of this. Yomoko explicitly does not consider itself a dating platform, but rather a network for people who share a passion: motorcycling.

And the concept seems to be working. Nowadays, several thousand riders use the platform, and thousands of new contacts between bikers are made every month.

Why We Started a Kickstarter Campaign

So far, we have developed Yomoko completely self-financed and alongside our regular jobs. To further expand the platform and implement new features, we have therefore started a Kickstarter campaign.

The goal of the campaign is to implement several important steps simultaneously.

On the one hand, we want to develop three major features that have directly emerged from your feedback from the community.

  • The Crew Base Manager is designed to help motorcycle groups organize themselves better. Groups can manage members, plan events and tours, and coordinate joint activities.

  • The Roadstory Tracker is intended as a digital travel diary. Your tours can not only be recorded but also documented with photos, videos, and short texts – so that shared rides create memories that you as a motorcycle group can relive again and again.

  • With the Full Throttle Achievements, we also want to create a community area where creative projects from the scene can become visible. Competitions such as "Best Custom Bike," "Best Bike Sound," or special tours can be planned, which the community can vote on.

  • Another important point is the international expansion of the platform. Our vision has always been a global community for motorcyclists. Especially in the USA, there is a huge motorcycle scene and many riders who have already shown interest in Yomoko.

However, for Yomoko to function well there, we also need to appropriately expand the technical infrastructure. Server capacities, data processing, and performance must scale internationally so that riders can connect reliably everywhere.

Part of the funding will therefore be specifically directed towards the international roll-out and infrastructure expansion, so that Yomoko operates stably and quickly outside of Europe.

The Vision Behind the Project

In the long run, Yomoko is to become a global platform for motorcyclists. A platform where one can always find like-minded individuals – no matter where they are. Whether for a spontaneous after-work round, a multi-day tour, or a big trip.

The idea behind it is actually quite simple: Motorcycling connects people. Yomoko aims to make that connection easier.

Or in other words: less time on the screen – more time on the road.

How You Can Support Yomoko

If you like the idea behind Yomoko, you can support us in various ways. The most important option is to support our Kickstarter campaign so that we can develop the next features:

Alternatively, you can also take out a Premium subscription. This gives you additional convenience features such as voice messages or AI-generated images for tours. You’ll also gain access to exclusive partner offers, such as discounts of up to 30% on selected navigation apps and other services related to motorcycling.

Equally important is the community itself. Feedback, new ideas, and sharing the app with other bikers help us greatly in developing Yomoko step by step.

Because in the end, a platform like this lives mainly from the people who use it.

Meet. Ride. Repeat.

If you want to be part of the community, feel free to check out our Kickstarter campaign or download the app.

Maybe we’ll see each other on the road soon. 🏍️
